I work in Dr. Kermit Carraway's lab where my focus is on the optimization of amiloride derivatives for the treatment of breast cancer. We are currently unraveling their mechanism as it seems to undergo a understudied cell death mechanism. I will work on both the in vitro and in vivo studies regarding these compounds. I will look at both lysosomes and mitochondria as well as their potential interactions in the novel mechanism.
