Michele Giani

My research field is on the biogeochemical cycling of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon in the marine environment and in the distribution of contaminants (heavy metals and organometallic compounds) in the marine environment. Recent work is focused on the effects of ocean acidification and of the trophic conditions on the carbonate system in coastal waters. I participated to more than 39 oceanographic cruises and to the XXI Antarctic Italian Expedition.
