His fields of research include bioinformatics, genomics, and optimization problems. He is the author of the book "Mathematical Grammar of Biology" which mathematically extends Chargaff's second parity rule to higher-order oligonucleotides. He is co-author of the BSREM algorithm which is implemented on the GE Healthcare PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanning devices.
