Michael Scott DePriest

I study horse genomics, and I am currently concentrating on improving the forthcoming new equine reference genome. I have used a metagenomic approach to identify and screen out bacterial contaminants in the genome assembly. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in 2015, and my dissertation focused on systematics and genomics of red algae. In general, I am interested in using genomes to explore important evolutionary and biological phenomena.
