Michael J. Larson

I received my doctoral degree (PhD) in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychology from the University of Florida in 2008. I began my career at Brigham Young University that same year in the Departments of Psychology and the Neuroscience Center. My research interests are in clinical cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology. Specifically, my lab aims to better understand the behavioral and neural representations of cognitive control. We use event-related potential (ERP) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology to answer questions regarding how the brain detects conflict and errors and subsequently adjusts performance. Our research uses psychiatric disorders and neurologic illness or injury (such as traumatic brain injury and autism) as models of dysfunctional cognitive control to better understand cognitive control component processes.
