Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre - Brazil). Has experience in Chemistry, focusing on Chemical Kinetics and Catalysis, acting on the following subjects: catalysis, oligomerization, conversion of light olefins, nickel, and cobalt organometallic complexes, Hydrogen production and biomass conversion, synthesis of zeolite and mesoporous materials, CO2 capture and conversion. A transversal research interest being the synthesis and application of ionic liquids.Ph.D. in Kinetic and Catalysis at Université Claude Bernard Lyon- Institut de Recherches Sur la Catalyse (1987), Post-Doctorate at Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris 6. A chemical engineer from Ecole Nationale de Chimie de Rennes - ENSCR (1984), Science and Psychic DEUG from Université D'orsay (1980), Chemistry of Water and Environment from Ecole Nationale de Chimie de Rennes (1984).
