Gustavo Metzker

Bachelor (2006), Master (2009) and Ph.D (2013) in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo, at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos. Has experience in Chemistry, with emphasis on Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis. He completed a postdoctoral internship (2013-2017) at the Organic Synthesis Group at IQSC-USP, under the supervision of Professor Antonio Carlos Bender Burtoloso, with a postdoctoral internship abroad (2015-2016) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, under the supervision of Professor Peter C. Ford. He worked as an associate researcher (PNPD/Capes Scholarship) at IBILCE/UNESP in São José do Rio Preto associated with the Bioenergy Laboratory under the responsibility of Professor Maurício Boscolo (2018-2023). The main research areas focus in homo and heterogeneous catalysis (metallic catalysts) for the development of new reactions and methodologies aimed at the use of alcohols (ethanol, 1-butanol and fusel oil) and molecules derived from plant biomass (levulinic acid, gamma-valerolactone) in obtaining organic building blocks with high value added.
