I combine molecular line observations with simple chemical modeling and radiative transfer to study young protostellar disks that are still embedded in their envelope of natal cloud material in order to unravel the initial conditions for planet formation. I use chemistry as tracer of the physical conditions and I am particularly interested in sublimation fronts, such as snowlines and the soot line.
