Melissa N. Hempstead

My research interests include animal behaviour and welfare, painful husbandry practices in farm animals such as disbudding of goat kids and calves, small ruminant production, animal physiology, and pain assessment and management. I am currently working on health and welfare aspects of sheep with gastrointestinal parasites and how anthelmintic resistance will impact animal health and welfare. I also have many years’ experience as an educator in tertiary and secondary sectors.
