Career Trajectory
Bio
Mehmet Cengiz Onbaşlı (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in materials science and technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2015. In his Ph.D. research, he focused on fabrication and characterization of magnetic, magnetooptical, and optical thin films for integrated photonic and spintronic circuits. His current research interests include fabrication and characterization of high-quality crystalline oxide thin films, design and demonstration of new spintronic, magnetooptical and photonic integrated devices and circuits and machine/deep learning models for positioning, sensor signal processing, and logic applications. He is the coauthor of 45 peer-reviewed journal articles on magnetic thin films and devices, magnetooptical thin films, and optical isolators. He is also a co-inventor of a patent on integrated nonreciprocal resonator isolators and a co-founder of two spin-off companies from his laboratory.
