Megan Hicks

My central research focus is on communities and their histories of ecological stewardship, especially how these relations are impacted by colonial contexts and markets. Much of my research has centered on Iceland and North Atlantic colonialism. I approach research through excavation, zooarchaeology, mapping, and archival research as well as collaborative interdisciplinary and community archaeology. I also work to further archaeology as a tool for Indigenous sovereignty in North America.
