Md. Abdur Rouf Sarkar

Md. Abdur Rouf Sarkar is an agricultural economics expert with more than ten years of experience in agricultural research and development. Currently, he has worked at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) as a Senior Scientific Officer. Most of his research focused on the analysis of farmers’ livelihood systems, income diversification, poverty and food security, technology adoption and impact, farm mechanization and labour dynamics, gender dynamics, agricultural marketing and value chain studies, climate change etc. He has extensive experience of working in several organizations in Bangladesh in different capacities. He has worked as a Researcher at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Research Assistant at Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), TRAIDCRAFT-TARANGO, Practical Action Bangladesh and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI). He uses both qualitative and quantitative research methods to study real-world problems of farmers. He has strong competency to manage and analyze large-scale cross-section and time-series data using state-of-the-art econometric methods and statistical software packages. He also has substantially contributed to the capacity building of students and researchers from Bangladesh in social science research through training, research guidance, access to data, and joint publications.
