Professor in Signal Processing with research interests including statistical signal processing in general, and its applications to antenna array processing and communications, radio resource management and propagation channel modeling, positioning and navigation, and sensor data analysis.

I serve as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, was technical chair for IEEE SPAWC 2015, and was a member of the IEEE SPCOM Technical Committee 2007-2012. I received the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Column Award in 2019 for the paper E. Björnson, M. Bengtsson, and B. Ottersten, "Optimal Multiuser Transmit Beamforming: A Difficult Problem with a Simple Solution Structure", IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, Volume. 31, No. 4, July 2014.
