Matias L. Pidre

My thesis work was centered on the development of different viral vectors with several medical applications. In the first stage of my work I focused in the generation of recombinant baculoviruses displaying different Junin Virus antigens on their surface. In the second stage, I made a transfer vector capable of driving baculovirus-mediated gene silencing that was initially applied for treatment of pituitary tumors. Additionally, I have participated in the characterization and analysis of the genome of an autoctonous baculovirus by NGS technology. I am currently doing postdoctoral research attending to other issues related to miRNA sponges expression. Furthermore, I am working in the characterization of the role of mitochondrial peptides in breast cancer development.
