Masoud Vaezghasemi

My qualifications are BSc Food Science & Industry, MSc Public Health, MSc Food & Nutrition, and PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health. As part of my doctoral studies (2012-17), I studied the Nutrition Transition and the Double Burden of Malnutrition in Indonesia. I am working as a Global Health researcher focusing on social and contextual inequalities mainly among children. I am also teaching both quantitative and qualitative methods at Master and PhD levels in the Department of Epidemiology and Global Health, Umeå University, Sweden. My research approach to child health takes a holistic and relational perspective in which not only every child should survive and have a good start, but also the opportunity to thrive in life by considering physical, social, and geographical factors. In 2022, I received a national research grant to study the evolution of obesity in Sweden from the Precision Public Health perspective. In addition, I am collaborating on several global research projects mainly concerning malnutrition and mental health among children as well as social networks interventions in Low- to Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
