个人简介
Marta Rufino research is focused on the underlying ecological processes of marine communities and respective biodiversity, from a local scale using fisheries surveys data, to global scale using large databases. She works with large spatio-temporal oceanographic and environmental sets and has two decades of experience in statistical analysis of ecological data using r, in particular spatio-temporal analysis and shape analysis (geometric morphometrics). She is also interested in statistical modelling of paleoceanographic series. She has more than 40 international publications, have been engaged in dozens of projects, being IPMA’s contact point in an FP7-SPACE, participated in 9 oceanographic surveys and worked and lived in 7 fisheries laboratories around Europe. Recently, she worked in the development of spatial indicators for the MSFD at IFREMER-Nantes and in the world aquatic biodiversity modelling.
She currently works at IPMA / CEAUL (Centre of Statistics of the University of Lisbon) on small scale fisheries with Miguel Gaspar, namely on the estimation of fishing effort (MONTEREAL), analysis of catches of SSF (FISH-CO) and on the DQEM coastal survey. She is engaged in several ICES groups (WGECO, WGSFD, WGEAWESS), hosting and organizing the ICES hybrid Workshop on Geo-Spatial Data for Small-Scale Fisheries WKSSGEO.
She regularly contributes to social communication. She founded and coordinated the outreach group of IPMA (Mar dos Pequeninos, in IPMA-Escolas) which involved more than 50 volunteer researchers, 8 laboratories and has received 1495 first grades/pre-school students during two years to make lab experiments among others. Further, she regularly teaches r statistical analysis and spatial analysis, for universities and private companies.
She is an active member of the USK Portugal, coordinating a group of >70 sketches, having organized >30 workshops. She challenges herself to dance Lindy hop, Balboa and Samba da Gafieira.
