Career Trajectory
Bio
Major object of my research is the investigation of the biosynthesis of natural products from basal fungi (early diverging fungi). I am interested in the evolution and biochemistry of their secondary metabolism, but I also focus on the ecological relevance and potential pharmaceutical applications of the compounds. Their specific habitates, unrelated metabolism and paraphyletic origin make basal fungi a prolific resource of novel bioactive natural products and evolutionary unique enzymes.
