Marinda C Oosthuizen

My research focus on tick-borne pathogen discovery, genetic characterization of novel tick-borne haemoparasites to identify new species or variants in various domestic and wild animals, and molecular diagnostic assay development for the detection of these parasites of veterinary and/or public health importance. My research integrates cutting-edge molecular technologies (including next generation sequencing, metagenomics approaches and microbiome data analysis) as well as applied research.
