Obtained his Bachelors degree in Animal Science at the Federal University of Vicosa and obtained his masters (2007) and doctorate (2010) at the same university. He has postdoctoral period at the University of Florida in 2018-2019. He served as professor in Dairy Cattle Management and Nutrition at the Federal University of Vicosa from 2010-202, and in 2021 he transferred to Washington State University as professor of Dairy Cattle Nutrition.
