Marcelo M. Stopa (M’06) was born in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in 1994, 1997, and 2011, respectively. Since 1997, he has been holding a faculty position with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Centro Federal de Educação Tecnolgica de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. His current research and technical interests include rotating electric machines, electrical drives, and power electronic converters. Dr. Stopa was a recipient of Moacir Duval Award—Silver Medal.
