Marcelo A. Pereira-Da-Silva

Marcelo A. Pereira-da-Silva was born in Viradouro, São Paulo, Brazil, in 1959. He received the mechanical technician degree from Escola Técnica Industrial Paulino Botelho São Carlos, São Carlos, Brazil, in 1976, the mechanical engineering degree from the Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos, University of São Paulo (USP), São Carlos, in 1983, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in materials and engineering from Instituto de Física de São Carlos (IFSC-USP), São Carlos, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. From 1976 to 1977, he was with Companhia Intercontinental de Compressores Herméticos (SICOM/TECUMSEH). From 1978 to 1983, he was a Professor at Curso e Colégio CAASO. From 1984 to 1991, he was a Mechanical Engineer with Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica S/A. From 1991 to 1993, he started working as a RHAE-CNPq Researcher with IFSC-USP, where he has been an Engineer since 1993. From 2001 to 2002, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC, USA. Since 2003, he has been also a Professor at Centro Universitário Central Paulista (UNICEP). He has authored over 80 publications in international journals and over 100 papers at conferences. His research interests include scanning electron microscopy, electron beam lithography, electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy.
