Dr. M.V. Shankar is a Professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology in Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, India. I am leading “Nanocatalysis and Solar Fuels” Research team in the Varsity and supervising scholars for my doctoral thesis and M.Sc., project work. Renowned for outstanding research work in the field of Photocatalysis for Hydrogen fuel production and multi-functional application of nanomaterials, authored/co-authored 157 journal publications/patents having h-index of 46, i-10 index of 105, an average impact factor of 6.584 with 9490+ citations. I continuously inspire the student community and research scholars through keynote lectures/invited talks at several conferences/symposia/INSPIRE program. I am having very good R&D collaborators in the area of energy, environment, and healthcare applications. As an active collaborator involved in cross-disciplinary research in the area of hydrogen production, desalination / defluoridation of drinking water, one pot multi-component synthesis, anticancer and autoimmune diseases.
My research team is well appreciated for publishing novel heterojunction based photocatalysts based on ZnS/NiO and Cu2S/TiO2 core-shell morphology for stable and enhanced hydrogen production utilizing industrial wastes viz., crude glycerol and H2S present in wastewater. The highlight of my team research work is the use of earth-abundant materials, a simple concept, and scalable experimental methods in the preparation of photocatalysts. My research team has fabricated prototype photoreactors and developed more than 25 efficient photocatalysts by fine-tuning optical and surface-interface properties of semiconductors at nanoscale. One of the best photocatalyst synthesized at gram-scale targetted for large-scale hydrogen generation. I have completed two collaborative research projects with CSIR-CECRI, Karaikudi and CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad funded by MNRE, India.
I am having rich post-doctoral research experience for more than 5 years in prestigious institutions in France, Japan and Taiwan. I have received fellowships (x 8), awards (×5) and grants (×2) from various scientific agencies in recognition of my research work in India and abroad. Notable among these are “Top 2% Most influential scientist in the world for the year 2021 2022 and 2023 (Stanford University, USA and Elsevier)”, “Alpha Doger (AD) Scientific index, world scientist and university rankings for the year 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023”, “Andhra Pradesh Scientist Award” for the year 2020 and “AP State Meritorious Teacher Award” for the year 2022 and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), U.K. I have served as lead guest editor and editorial board member in journals of international repute. I have established an excellent collaboration network (> 25 groups) in 7 countries.
