María Teresa Flores-Arias i was born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees in physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain, in 1997, 1998 and 2001, respectively. From 1999 to 2001, she had and FPI grant from the Spain government. From 2003-2008 she has been a Researcher of Optics at the Faculty of Physics and Optics and Optometry School, University of Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain. From 2009 she is Professor at the Universidade de Santiago. Author of: 121 publications (Scopus), 70 of them in indexed papers (JCR); 3 book chapters; 153 communications either national or international congresses (21 as invited speaker) and 2 patents. I have participated in: 23 competitive projects (PI of 6); 8 R&D contracts with companies (PI in 4); 4 transfer activities (PI of 3); 1 COST program (co-representative of the Board), 1 excellence network in the EU: NEMO (Network of Excellence on MicroOptics); Spanish platform for Photonics (Fotonica 21) and Photonics Galician Network. I did a postdoctoral stay in the CNRS de Limoges (France) and 2 stays in the “Instituto de Ciencias de Materiales” in Aragón that is part of the CSIC in Zaragoza (Spain). I am a reviewer of international journals indexed in the JCR and member of the evaluating quality committee for the Junta de Andalucía, AEI, CONACYT and Xunta de Galicia. I was member of the scientific committee in a total of 25 international congresses and in 5 national conferences. I organized 4 summer schools (2 nationals and 2 internationals) and 4 conferences (3 national and 1 international). Teaching and outreach: I teach since 2000 in the Physics and Optics and Optometry degrees; also, I was a professor in the Photonics and Laser Technologies Interuniversity master. I have supervised 2 postdoctoral researchers, 7 PhD (1 ongoing); 2 Bachelor projects in physics, 17 Master projects and 10 final projects. I have positive teaching evaluations in the USC. I have a positive mark for the LOU figure from ANECA and ACSUG. Also, I have the accreditation for being “Maître de Conferènces” from the French Evaluation Agency. In January 2007 I obtained the first position for the TEU concurs in the Optics Area. Since November 2009 I am an associate professor USC within the Optics Area, with the accreditation of Full Professor. Since 2008 I participate in the “A ponte entre a USC e o ensino secundario” program that consists in spreading knowledge at high schools. I am also the faculty advisor of the OSA-chapter student group called “USC-OSA”, focused on the spreading of optics and photonics to the society. I participated in 3 summer schools as invited speaker. Academic background: I was granted with a predoctoral fellowship (FPI) and I obtained my PhD in Physics in the USC (Extrordinary Doctorate Award). I did several postdoctoral stays, granted by the Xunta de Galicia and was awarded with the “Isidro Parga Pondal” program. Managing: I am leader of 1 regional and 2 national ongoing research projects. I was secretary of the USC Academic Committee of the Interuniversity master on “Photonics and Laser technologies”, which I managed (2011-2016). I am the president of the system of the access to the University in the Galician country (Comisión Interuniveritaria de Galicia-CIUG, pruebas de acceso a la Universidad-ABAU). I was vice-president of the Spanish Optoelectronic committee (October 17th 2012 to July 11th 2013) and president (July 11th 2013 to July 11th 2015). I was also a member of the commissioning for the redaction of the new degree in Optics and Optometry for the USC and I was secretary of the Applied Physics Department (December 2014-December 2019). I am the co-founder of the BFLOW spin-off company. Currently I am the vice-president of the Image Techniques Committee of the Spanish Society of Optics and the secretary of the Execom Board of the European Optical Society since September 2020. Prizes, mentions and distinctions: - “Francisco Guitián Ojea” transference of technology prize. Awarded by Real Academia Galega de Ciencias (2019). - “The Best Business Idea 2019” award from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. - 4 recognized period of research by the “National Spanish Research Agency”: 1999-2004, 2005-2010, 2011-2016 plus transference of technology for the period 2007-2013.
