I work in the Biotechnology field, specialized in Microbiology. I work with hot springs thermophilic bacteria from Azores , applied to wastes (Sewage Sludge, Green residues, Feathers) bioconversion for energy production and value-added products. Vast experience in the isolation and characterization of bacteria for screening thermostable enzymes (Proteases, Lignocellulases, Amilases, Keratinases or Quitinases) or antimicrobial and antitumor peptides and proteins for biological control. I also have experience in laboratory and field tests, in the production of biocontrol agents and on the construction and maintenance of bacteria biobanks (constructed a biobank with more than 4000 cultivable isolates). I am experienced in writing creative/innovative projects relevant for the industrial market, energy efficiency or in the coordination of projects. I am interested in circular economy, white, blue and red Biotechnology, and promoting the transfer of scientific knowledge to the industry. Also, have experience in Bioinformatics and Computational Tools for Next-Generation Sequencing Analysis with biotechnology applications.
