Matthew Oldfield received the B.Sc. degree in physics with astrophysics from the University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K., in 1989. In 1989, as a Research Associate with the University of Kent, he joined the Millimetre-Wave Technology Group, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Science and Technology Facilities Council, Didcot, U.K., working on the development of a novel, high frequency subharmonic mixer for a remote sensing instrument. In 1996, he became an employee of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory where he continues to develop mixers, multipliers, quasi-optical components, and remote sensing and astronomical systems.
