Maurizio Mongiat

My research interests focus on the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) components in cancer progression, in particularEMILIN-2, an ECM protein with a wide distribution in the stroma, and the endothelial cell-specific molecule Multimerin-2. We evaluate the direct role of these molecules in cancer cells as well as the impact in their microenvironmental components, particularly angiogenesis, through cell and murine knockout models. The goal is to translate the results in clinical practice.
