I am a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, investigating traditional and novel signal processing techniques of physiological signals, in order to extract parameters capable of describing the functioning and maturation of cardiorespiratory and autonomic control in infants. These parameters could provide early markers to perform risk stratification and optimize care-path for infants. Furthermore, my research focuses on sleep monitoring, to identify non-invasive wearable devices to asses sleep quality and its relationship with health and development from pregnancy to childhood. I am currently involved in several longitudinal cohort studies focused on the effect of exposure to smoking and alcohol and maternal depression during pregnancy on newborn physiology and neurodevelopmental outcome.
