M. K. Rama Varma Raja

M. K. Rama Varma Raja received the B. Sc. degree in physics from the University of Calicut, Malappuram, India, the M. Sc. degree in meteorology from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India, and the M. Tech. degree in atmospheric physics and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Pune, Pune, India, in 2000. He was a Physical Scientist with I.M. Systems Group, Inc., working on National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), projects from 2003 to 2011. Since September 2011, he has been a Senior Research Scientist with Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership-Ozone Mapper Profiler Suite (NPP-OPMS) Science Operations Center, Science Systems and Applications, Inc., for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD. His current work supports OMPS instrument operations. His past work has focused on calibration of infrared instruments onboard NOAA geostationary and polar-orbiting satellites, validating the retrieval products such as winds from Doppler lidars, water vapor, and trace gases from infrared sounders, and land surface temperature from IR radiometers. He also has extensive analysis experience in global-positioning-system-based water vapor data and the analysis of data from mesosphere–stratosphere-troposphere radars.
