Mª Elena de Cos was born in Torrelavega, Cantabria (Spain). She received the Telecommunication Engineering degree in 2002 and the PhD degree in 2006 both from the Universidad de Cantabria (Santander, Spain). She has worked in nonlinear dynamics: stability and phase-noise analysis of nonlinear circuits such as oscillators, frequency dividers, self-oscillating mixers, and multiharmonic generators. From September 2004 to March 2007 she worked as researcher engineer in collaboration with ACORDE S.A, a spin-off of the Communications department of the Universidad de Cantabria. In March 2007 she joined the Área de Teoría de la Señal y Comunicaciones of the Universidad de Oviedo (Gijón, Spain), as an associate Professor. Her research interests are metamaterials design and its applications to antennas and microwave circuits, design of antennas for wearable and RFID systems, RCS reduction, location techniques and Wireless Sensor Networks design and applications. She has participated in several European, National and regional research projects. She has been invited Professor at the I.E.T.R. University of Rennes in 2011 and 2014. She has authored over 50 technical journal and conference papers in the areas of metasurfaces and antenna design and measurements and she serves as reviewer for several international publications on the aforementioned topics. She is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Antennas and Propagation (Hindawi) from 2015. She serves as associate editor for IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters from August 2018.
