Lukas Kalinke

I am a respiratory registrar, having recently taken time out of training to pursue a PhD at UCL in the Lungs for Living centre. My PhD is both clinical and laboratory based. I am coordinating a randomised control trial using electrocautery to treat pre-invasive endobronchial lung cancer. I will be collecting precious clinical samples from patients to perform genetic, transcriptomic and proteomic analysis to further elucidate the molecular processes underpinning lung carcinogenesis. My other interest is in medical education, specifically helping students better understand pathophysiology which I believe, when mastered, leads to better patient care. I am also interested in clinical reasoning - the 'art of medicine' that actually has a strong scientific basis.
