Luis Baumela is a professor of computer science in the Departamento de Inteligencia Artificial at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He received a BS and MS degress (licenciado) in Computer Science from UPM in 1989. From 1989 to 1992 he was an engineer at Telefónica's R&D labs (Telefónica I+D). He went back to UPM where he earned a PhD degree in Computer Science in 1995. In 1996 he did postdoctoral research with Prof. Mike Brooks, Universty of Adelaide. From 1997 he is an accademic in the ETSI Informáticos (School of Computer Science) of the UPM. He is a recipient of the UPM doctorate award (premio extraordinario de doctorado). His research interest is in the area of computer vision.
