Lucia Panzella

Lucia Panzella received the Degree in chemistry, the Ph.D. degree in chemical sciences, and the Ph.D. degree in experimental dermatology in 2001, 2004, and 2008, respectively. Since 2016, she has been a fixed-term Researcher of organic chemistry with the Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy. She has authored some 95 publications in international journals. Her current research interests include chemistry and structure of eumelanins and pheomelanins, structure and properties characterization of natural polyphenols, and design and characterization of natural and bioinspired phenolic polymers with antioxidant properties for the development of functional materials. Dr. Panzella has been a member of the Board of Directors of the European Society for Pigment Cell Research since 2017. She received the L’Oreal Italia Per le Donne e la Scienza Prize promoted by L’Oréal Italia in collaboration with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO in 2007. From 2008 to 2016, she received several research scholarships and research grants from the Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Naples Federico II.
