Louise Ford

My interests are focused on tropical disease research and product development for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and malaria. I worked for 10 years on Drug Discovery and Development within the Anti-Wolbachia consortium aiming to develop a new drug for the NTDs causing river blindness and elephantiasis as a post-doctoral researcher and Scientific Manager. I also spent 12 months in diagnostics research for NTDs managing a number of projects working on diagnostics for Visceral Leishmaniasis in the Indian Sub-Continent. I am currently a Study Director in LITE (Liverpool Insect Testing Establishment) and am responsible for insectary management & bioassay testing. In LITE we rear numerous strains of mosquitoes (susceptible & resistant) and run client based bioassays.
