Louis Madsen is a graduate research assistant working toward his Ph.D in the Department of Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology. He is responsible for the design, fabrication, and testing of both the prototype FDNMR, as well as the MEMS-based FDNMR spectrometer. He carried out the first successful proof-of-principle experiments, and the spin-echo experiments using the prototype FDNMR instrument. He greatly modified and simplified the MEMS fabrication process to the current 26-step process. He is currently involved in microfabrication of the integrated ferromagnetic oscillator and magnet assembly.
