Loren Tauer joined the faculty of Cornell University after completing his Ph.D. and serving as an Instructor at Iowa State University. His appointment at Cornell has involved research, teaching, and extension in the areas of agricultural production and finance. His research has appeared in over 100 journal articles and he has written numerous extension bulletins and articles. He has taught the graduate course in production economics at Cornell for many years, introducing production economics knowledge to over 900 graduate students. Other courses taught include agriculture finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, business risk analysis, international agribusiness field trips, and undergraduate econometrics. He served two separate terms as the Director of Graduate Studies, and served as Department Chair of Applied Economics and Management. He was the first David J. Nolan Director of the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell. He served as the editor of Agricultural and Resource Economics Review and as president of the Northeast Agricultural and Resource Economics Association, where he is an Honorary Member and Fellow.
