Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of blindness currently with very limited treatment. Our group are working on the mechanism for AMD-associated inflammation and cell death. Through targeting epigenetic and genetic modifications of inflammatory responses in AMD, such as cGAS-STING and IL17 signaling pathway, we are aimed to develop novel therapeutic strategies for AMD, especially nonvascular AMD treatment. We are also interested in the inflammatory response during cell senescence and aging process. We are currently testing the effects of small molecules and proteins in preventing/intervening/reverse cell senescence and in vivo aging through targeting senescence-associated secretory phenotype.
