Leticia Magpali

I study the molecular evolution of echolocation in marine and freshwater cetaceans, using bioinformatics and sequencing tools to track evolutionary changes in coding sequences. My research focuses on investigating hypotheses of positive selection and convergence in dolphin hearing genes, which are required for high frequency perception. I'm currently interested in understanding how different environments might have shaped the evolution of biosonars through divergent/convergent evolution.
