This research group were one of the first to apply multi-frequency bioimpedance analysis to the study of body composition. From the late 1980s, they pioneered the use of Cole analysis for this purpose. This research led to the development of a multi-frequency bioimpedance analyser, which was subsequently commercialised by UniQuest, the technology transfer company of the University of Queensland, and sold world-wide. Dr Ward's research in the field was recognised by the award of the Clunies Ross Medal in 2015. He has published over 300 scientific publications.
