L.V. has given 26 invited talks at national and international conferences. He published more than 130 papers (among which 1 Nature, 1 Nature Communication, 3 Angewandte Chemie Int. Ed., 9 PRL, 2 JACS, 1 Surf. Sci. Rep., 1 Prog. Surf. Sci.) and co-authored a scientific book on Montecarlo Methods. Presently (August 2022) his h-index is 33 (Scopus database) and his papers have received more than 3600 citations. Since August 2023 he is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Chemistry (PHysical Chemistry and Chemical Physics). L. V is also member of the Editorial Board of Coatings, of The Open Access Journal of Science and Technology and of 4 Open. L.V. has served/serves as a referee for several journals, including Nature Photonics, Angewandte Chemie, Nature Communications, PRL, PRB, Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters and J Phys. Chem C. and Applied Surface Scicence.Together with M. Rocca and T.S. Rahman he edited the Springer Handbook of Surface Science (2020). L.V. coordinated a PURS project of INFM, a British Council-CRUI project and has been Local Coordinator of two PRIN projects. L.V. has co-directed the 40th (VAS12, 2007) and the 44th (Dynamical Phenomena in low Dim Systems, 2008) Workshops at Centro Ettore Majorana in Erice. He Guest Edited the Proceedings of ECOSS 26 and of ICSFS 16. His teaching activity is presently devoted to the Mathematical Statistics and Material Science courses as well as to the PHD School of Chemistry in Genoa University. He has taught General Physics, Solid State Physics, Surface Science and Physics of Materials with Laboratory. He is presently member of the Board of the School of Science (Consiglio della Scuola di Scienze) and of the Teaching Commission of DIFI. He is presently Coordinator for the degrees in Material Science in Genoa University.
