His research interest focused in the study of glycohydrolases as early markers of cellular damages, related to oxidative stress, in several pathologies, both acquired and congenital, in physiological and pathological ageing processes and in the monitoring of therapies.
More recently his study have focused on cellular O-GlcNAcylation as marker of oxidative stress in physiological and pathological processes including Erectile Dysfunction, Down’s syndrome, muscle wasting, Alzheimer's disease and in the evaluation of oxidative balance and efficiency of natural antioxidants from food in the diet.
