Lantis I. Osemwengie

Dr. Lantis Iyayi Osemwengie received his Ph.D., in Environmental Science (chemistry track) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2002 where he was awarded the UNLV Alumni Association Outstanding Dissertation Award. He received his MS degree in Soil Science from Prairie View A & M University in 1984 and his BS degree in Chemistry from Texas Southern University in 1982. Dr. Osemwengie has been involved with environmental chemicals since 1999 and currently works at the U.S. EPA's Multimedia Measurement Branch in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA. His work focuses on environmental chemicals i.e., polychlorinated biphenyls, pharmaceuticals and personal care products in the environment, and a host of others. He conducts research on methods to accurately determine these chemicals in different environmental compartments. He has published his works in several scientific peer reviewed journals. He has been awarded the EPA “Bronze Medal for Commendable Service for PCBs in Schools Research, Policy and Implementation Team,” and also received a couple of Scientific and Technological Achievement Awards.
