Dr. Truesdale is an epidemiologist whose research focuses on examining the causes and consequences of obesity and energy imbalance. She has conducted obesity-related data analysis using data from four large longitudinal datasets — the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Aerobics Center Longitudinal Study (ACLS) and using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data. Dr. Truesdale is currently the Research Director of the Research Coordinating Unit (RCU) of the Childhood Obesity Prevention and Treatment Research (COPTR) Consortium. She has experience analyzing anthropometric, diet and physical activity data. Dr. Truesdale is currently investigating the associations between dietary intake and weight status and weight change in children and cardiovascular disease, diabetes and all-cause mortality and obesity-related exposures in adults. Dr. Truesdale also has experience coordinating multi-center trials and cost effectiveness analysis. She is particularly interested in health disparities research. Dr. Truesdale is a member of The Obesity Society (TOS).
