I received a B.S. (2007) and Ph.D. (2012) from the University of Tokyo, Japan. My Ph.D. thesis was focused on the molecular basis of host-pathogen interactions using the silkworm as a model animal. As a postdoc, I shifted my interest from micro- to macro-scaled interactions, featuring social insects such as honeybees and ants. In April 2015, I joined Dr. Kenta Asahina’s lab at Salk Institute to study the genetic and neuronal basis of "aggression" using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster.
