Karen Calhoun, an Academic and/or Research Program Officer with the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) at the University of Michigan, provides leadership locally/nationally utilizing diverse interpretation of lived experience and collaboration to improve community/population health outcomes and advance community engaged research. MICHR is a National Institutes of Health Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) since 2007. During her career as a community scientist and practitioner, Karen has expertise designing, implementing, and facilitating community health planning and community-based participatory research with multidisciplinary community-academic health partnerships including external audiences with lived experience from marginalized communities; focusing on ethics, equity, health disparities and team science to improve community health, delivery of care and health improvement.
