Karen C. Glass, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology in the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Glass holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Vermont. Dr. Glass’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms guiding histone recognition by chromatin reader domains to reveal their role in normal biological processes and in the development of disease. High field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and biochemical and molecular biology approaches are utilized determine the three-dimensional structures and functions of chromatin binding proteins implicated in a variety of cancers, including breast, prostate and leukemia.
