The PLASTICITY study is the oldest and largest at-risk follow-up cohort in which thoroughly examined children have been followed-up to age 40, instead of mere registry data harvesting. It comprises 1196 newborns with e.g. hyperbilirubinemia, asphyxia, low birth weight, maternal diabetes, neurological disorders, respiratory distress, or infection. Baseline cognition as well as risk and protective factors, incl. genetics, are measured to assess plasticity and cognition in the next four decades.
