Given his background of computer science and computational neuroscience, he focuses on the research of brain-computer interface, neurophysiological signal processing, machine learning, and neuroimaging data analytics, as well as their practical applications. He is involved in a wide range of academic activities, such as Associate Editors of the IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence (IEEE TAI), Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, and IEEE Access. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
