Julio M. Alcantara

Julio M. Alcantara currently works at the Department of Animal Biology, Vegetal Biology and Ecology, Universidad de Jaen (Spain). Julio does research in Community Ecology and Evolutionary Ecology . His current projects deal with the role of plant-plant interactions in the coexistence of species and the dynamics of plant communities, and how plant-plant interaction networks ('Replacement Networks") are built through the influence of multiple types of interactions (seed dispersal, post-dispersal seed predation, herbivory, pathogen infection and mycorrhizal associations). His study system are the woody species in communities of Mediterranean mixed Pine-Oak forests of Southern Spain, and their component communities of mutualistic and antaginistic fungi and insects.
