Julie Bastarache

My overall research goal is to understand fundamental biologic mechanisms underlying acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis. My basic science and translational work focuses on two major pathways: (1) coagulant and non-coagulant functions of tissue factor in the airspace and (2) the damaging effects of cell free hemoglobin in the lung and the circulation. I use a variety of cell, mouse and human models to dissect basic mechanisms of disease.
