Julianne Bayliss

Julianne Bayliss is a Senior Medical Affairs Manager supporting Seqirus' in-licensed vaccines portfolio. In her current role, Julianne provides medical education and support to healthcare professionals on topics including influenza, zoster, HPV, MMRV, pneumococcal disease and rotavirus. Julianne also provides local support to investigator sponsored research, focused on improving the quality use of vaccines. Prior to joining industry, Julianne spent ten years working in clinical research, first as a Research Fellow with the Alfred Hospital’s Department of Anatomical Pathology and the Burnet Institute, characterising viral infection and reactivation following immunosuppression, and later as a Senior Medical Scientist at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL). As a member of VIDRL’s Division of Molecular Research and Development, Julianne was focused on understanding the natural history of chronic hepatitis B infection, identifying factors which can be used to predict patient response to antiviral therapy and on improving the current treatment and prevention guidelines. Julianne completed her PhD at Monash University’s Department of Medicine at the Alfred Hospital; studying the pathological changes that occur to the vascular system as a result of allograft rejection and infection after cardiac transplantation. She has published more than thirty first-author peer reviewed publications across the areas of hepatitis, HIV, transplantation and pathology and received numerous awards for presenting her work at national and international conferences. Julianne has held teaching and lecturing appointments with University of Melbourne and Monash University, covering Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, and continues to volunteer as a mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. In addition to her professional commitments, Julianne maintains a keen interest in sport and has previously competed at a national level in swimming, athletics and triathlon.
